The Hickory Music Factory Jazz Combo under the direction of Rick Hefner, is a semester-long ensemble. The ensemble focuses on the study of the jazz art form, how to improvise, music theory, and playing in a group. The ensemble is for intermediate to advanced students. Students will be expected to be able to sight read music and have a basic understanding of chord theory.

The Hickory Music Factory “Rock Club” led by Tony Eltora, is a semester-long ensemble. The ensemble will focus on the study of Rock music, how to improvise, music theory, and playing together in a band. The ensemble is for intermediate to advanced students. Students will be expected to be able to read chord charts and have a basic understanding of music.

The Pandemonium Steel Drum Band under the direction of Rick Cline is a semester-long ensemble. Pandemonium performs locally at festivals and schools. Participation depends on availability of instruments and the ability to read music.

The Factory String Band under the direction of Liam Bailey is a semester-long ensemble that explores North American Contra and Square-dance music! This ensemble will incorporate and develop a manageable repertoire of American fiddle tunes in preparation for a proper contra dance to be held at Hart Square.

This ensemble is suitable for most beginners and ALL intermediate players. Appropriate instrumentation will include but will not be limited to, fiddle, flute, whistle, guitar, banjo, mandolin and acoustic bass.
